Privacy Policy

  1. 1. Who we are

    Practice Tests (practicetests.co) is run by Inhouse Training Pty Ltd, which also trades as Better People ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Practice Tests, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

  2. 2. What we collect

    • Your account. Your email address and password. Sign in is handled by Amazon Cognito, so your password is stored by Amazon Web Services and never seen by us.
    • Your purchases. Which question bank you bought, the amount, the date and the payment reference. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
    • Your practice. The exams and sessions you start, your answers, scores and the time spent on each question, the settings you choose, the mini-games you play between questions, and any problem you report about a question. We use this to show your progress and to choose which questions to give you next.
    • Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider records technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, to keep the service running and secure.

    We do not ask for your name, phone number or postal address. You can answer the free sample questions without an account, and we do not record who answered them.

  3. 3. How we use it

    • To create and run your account and sign you in.
    • To take payment and give you access to the banks you buy.
    • To run your practice: saving attempts, scoring them and adapting sessions to where you are weak.
    • To answer your questions and act on problems you report.
    • To improve our questions, using answer statistics across all learners, never shown against your name.
    • To prevent abuse, such as limits on how many requests an account can make in an hour.
    • To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.

    We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing emails.

  4. 4. Cookies and browser storage

    We use cookies only to keep you signed in. Your browser also remembers the language you last chose for questions. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings; you will then need to sign in again.

  5. 5. Translations, rephrasing and audio

    Some features send question text, never your personal information, to AI and speech services run by Amazon Web Services in Australia to translate a question, reword it more plainly, or read it aloud.

  6. 6. Hands-free mode

    Hands-free mode uses your browser's own speech recognition to hear your commands. Some browsers, including Google Chrome, send that audio to their maker to turn it into text, under that company's privacy policy. We do not receive or store your audio; the commands are understood in your browser. Hands-free mode is off unless you turn it on.

  7. 7. Who we share it with

    We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run Practice Tests:

    • Amazon Web Services for hosting, the database, sign in, translation and audio. Your data is stored in the AWS Sydney region.
    • Stripe to process payments. Stripe may process payment information outside Australia, including in the United States, under its own privacy policy.

    We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or with your consent.

  8. 8. Keeping it secure

    Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who run the service, and passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito rather than stored by us.

  9. 9. How long we keep it

    We keep your account and practice history while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and your practice history, except the purchase records we must keep for tax purposes, for as long as the law requires.

  10. 10. Your rights

    You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account. Email hello@practicetests.co from the address on your account and we will reply within 30 days.

    If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, contact us first. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

    Explanations link to official documentation and exam pages on other sites. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.

  12. 12. Changes to this policy

    If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will also email you.
